Keep away from electricity
Do not step into water to reach a plug, outlet, appliance control, or breaker. Shut off power only from a dry, safe location.
Stop the water supply
Close the appliance shutoff valve when it is safely accessible and clearly identified. If not, use the home’s main water shutoff or call emergency plumbing help.
Limit damage without moving the appliance
Use towels or a wet vacuum only after the electrical risk is controlled. Do not tilt or pull a heavy appliance across a wet floor.
Identify the timing and visible origin
Note whether the leak occurs during filling, washing, draining, dispensing, defrosting, or while idle. Photograph the first visible wet point.
Inspect only external connections
Check visible hoses, taps, sink connections, filters, door seals, and drain paths without opening panels or loosening pressurized fittings.
Do not reuse until the cause is confirmed
A small leak can return under pressure or during another cycle. Arrange service when the source is internal, unclear, or near electrical parts.
