Washing machine not starting

Try these checks in order

Exact controls and access points differ by model. Stop when a step does not match your appliance or manual.

   Confirm power

   Press Power once. Check that the plug is fully seated and test the outlet with a small lamp only if the outlet is dry and easy to reach.

   What you want: The display or control lights turn on.
2. 2

   Reset the controls

   Unplug the washer for one minute, then reconnect it. Use the breaker only if the plug is not safely accessible.

   What you want: The control panel restarts without an error.
3. 3

   Close the door or lid

   Move clothing away from the latch and close it firmly. Do not slam it.

   What you want: The door sits flush and the latch area is clear.
4. 4

   Check Control Lock and Delay Start

   Look for a lock symbol or delayed start time. Use the model manual to cancel the setting.

   What you want: No lock or delay indicator remains.
5. 5

   Hold Start as directed

   Some models require Start to be held for two or three seconds. Follow the label beside the button.

   What you want: The door locks and the cycle begins.

Find the full model number. Open the official manual, check for a recall, and describe which checks you completed before contacting service.
